Be carefull. This guy may be smarter then you think.Obviously if you are part of this forum you know what to look for as far as being positive it is the original LS6.It just seems something is missing here. Why would a guy spend all the money for a numbers matching LS6 and then sell the original motor? He has enough money to buy a LS6 Chevelle and a 572,but he can't afford to keep the original motor?$5000 is not a lot of money in the whole scenerio.Obviously he has talked to his Chevelle friends and they must have told him what a mistake he is making.I just can't imagine someone is that stupid.Just saying...
I'd also be nervous about publishing this deal on a national forum before it happens.I sure wouldn't be telling anyone where I live or where the car is. Good luck. |

Good luck. </div></div> Well, yeah, you're probably right about the "national forum" advertising. However, I don't have, nor plan on acquiring a Chevelle at this time. I've looked the car/engine/tranny over, it's got all the right numbers/components. Here's his issue. He just wants a fast, dependable car. The 454, while freshly rebuilt/restored (before he purchased), is making "ticking" noises and he just can't stand it. I watched the shop replace the lifters and check everything out where they thought it may be coming from but no luck. To me, the ONLY thing left that could possibly make the noise it's making is a bad valve guide, easy fix. But he's intent on putting the other motor in so whatever. I'll buy it, fix it, and put it on a stand in my shop and just wait. |

Onlooker: It's ticking. Me: It's the valve clearance for the solid lifter camshaft... Onlooker: huh? Me: Exactly...

![]() I had a ticking noise in a 69 Z/28 that I had in High school. I thought it was the solid lifters out of adjustment. It ended up being the number 6 connecting rod bearing starting to seize up. |
