Steve, You might "feel" that old, but you're not really old enough for carbon dating. Besides, you're still alive, which makes the process a tad more difficult

Hate to bust your bubble, but I have many decades experience with Mopars, Packards, Studebakers, etc., etc., etc.. And as you so eloquently explained if the original "Hemi" part started out life as the lowly wedge part (which it probably did), then taking the wedge part and modifying it (now) as the factory did would mean that you just turned it in to a "hemi" part...just like Mopar did.

You can't do that with real live honest to God "Hemi specific" parts.

Oh yeah, my post count on this one forum means nothing, except to those who think they're better, holier, whatever, because they have more posts on "this forum". Cause when it gets down to it, this forum doesn't mean much outside of this forum

Y'all are acting like the "old folks" over on Yellowbullet

I drove my first Superbird, daily, to highschool at age 16, back in the 70's when they were considered just another used car. And I parked it at the local Fair Auto Supply store in West Haven, CT, where I worked 5 days a week after school. I think that carbon dates me as a Mopar Neanderthal.

Same here... I drove my 1969 Hemi Road Runner & 1968 Hemi Charger R/T as daily drivers in the 1970s and early 80s.

BTW, I am not looking to argue about whether a converted duct is as good as an original Hemi part... it is not IMO. Fortunately, my RR has the original Hemi Air Grabber hood.

See attached pic of my Hemi RR back in the 1970s...

That's the car! It was called Village Standard then, on the corner of Greenleaf & Busse rd. in Elk Grove Village Illinois. I have been working there since Jan. of 1972.

I changed the name to Bill's Village Marathon when I purchased it in 1985, and changed gas suppliers to Marathon.

Did you live or work in the area? rsatz28? Rob Satzke owner of Quality Towing back in the day by chance?

Bill,

Right family, but my older brother started/owned Quality. We moved to EG in 68, and my Dad still lives by the HS. You most likely know my Dad. He was the licensing officer for the village for about 10 yrs, before he retired 5-6 yrs ago

I remember your Hemi RR sitting in the corner @ the Standard Station like it was yesterday. My friends and I would comment about "that Hemi" that we would see as we drove around the EG.

I had a 68 400 Dark Green Firebird from 73 to 79, and a friend had a dark green 383 Super Bee & another friend had a 383 RR.

Rob

Rob,

Yes I remember your dad. We still do some towing for the Elk Grove Village Police department. Your older brother's name was Rich?

I think I remember the 68 400 Firebird. There sure were a lot of "Green" cars back then! We still do a lot of muscle cars for customers. Thanks for the memories. Now if I can only figure out how to scan that picture from Union Grove & post it...
