Carl- I think its just a simple case of "some had them and some didn't". For instance. My brother had a 71 Z back in the day. Non-RS and no style trim. But yet he had the bright trim on the tail lights. For years he thought his car was a mix up and was supposed to be an RS. However, this was wishful thinking on his part. He later threw a full RS front end on the car.

Just seemed kinda confusing,
In the back of my mind (with all the cobbwebs) I was wondering if it was some mysterious option combination. ![]()

I think if it had those taillights on a non-RS then it had stainless steel trim around the front parking lights also.

Makes sense, mine does have the stainless around the front park lenses.

I contacted George Z. about this some time ago as it appeared on a cars paperwork he sent me.He mentioned it was probably tint/shade related.I asked if could mean the bulbs color and he said that's probably it,as not being found as a solitary RPO listing.
I didn't realize the lens chrome trim was different on either model. That makes much more sense. |
