for those of you who dont know who Steve Johnson is, Steve used to race a Pro Mod car in the mid to late 90's. the first was a firebird, then to a 92 ZR1 corvette and then to a 57 chevy. the cars were owned by Dave Simpson who had quite the collection of rare muscle cars before....well, getting in some hot water. this was his first car. 75 camaro that was street raced heavily back then. Steve also worked for Nitrous Oxide and now i think is the Director of Motorsports for Edelbrock. he helped them design their current N2O systems. he is a Nitrous wizard......

being built by John Rice.....

Jeff,

Thanks again for the pics of the invoices. My car was probably on the lot when your Dad was there. My cars orig paperwork says Route 25. Does your Dad happen to know a John Filson from Elgin, IL ??? I think my car ended up at alot of car shows in the area. White 74 z/28 with chrome side pipes and pinstriped flames.

Here is a pic, I am sure it had different wheels and tires on it as when I found it, it had the orig rims and wide ovals and the tires still had the nubs on them like new

after building Steves camaro, John Rice built an all 'glass 55 chevy to compete in Top Sportsman. he built this car for specifically one purpose. to beat Rob Vandergriff in the '57 chevy Thundercraft.............John was into everything from an alcohol dragster to a '55 chevy 9 sec. street car to turbo nitroused bikes. he died tragically in a street race on his motorcycle.

here are some of his toys......

alcohol dragster

turbo/n2o drag bike

this is Steve taking apart the motor we bought for my 57. John also is the one who narrowed the 57........
