Just noticed something. Your drvr inner fender had the holes and straps for the front end wiring harness.. Granted its different plants but only 1 build week apart but the green car does not have the holes for the straps.. Could it have been leftovers from 67 and 68 RS cars made it a requirement to have the inner fender updated..??.. Love the oddities of these cars.. Interesting stuff.

EDIT:

Also noticed another difference.. Upper Alt bracket has the bracket for the throttle spring vs no bracket and spring attaching to coil bracket..

For the record I am not claiming one correct over the other just find the differences as interesting.

Ok one other thing.. This car needs to be in the Survivor Section over on CRG.. Also would be a great candidate for the feature car over there as well..

Darrel,

I had noticed the alternator bracket / accelerator spring deal myself. As I have mentioned in the past, the Camaro's are new to me. Being a Corvette guy, I'm used to one plant producing maybe 20,000 cars a year. The Camaro's are an entirely different beast in that respect.

For what is worth, this car was a special order and delivered at the end of April of 68.

To your point, I am finding the little details and differences in the cars to be fascinating myself.

Soak the emblems in Safest Rust Remover as well... you will be amazed at how nice they will look. AMAZED!

I've been spending some time driving the HM L78 and working out a few small issues.

First.................put the Muncie shifter on the shelf! Found a nice older Hurst...........almost N.O.S.!

Secondly...............the muffler was just junk. It sounded horrible and was not very enjoyable to drive. I was hesitant due to the muffler being original (IMO) and was in fear of not being able to reuse the original pipes, hangers, and clamps.

After consulting with one of my customers, he felt he could easily save everything I wanted to, but would have to sacrifice the muffler. Sooooooooooo........off it went.

And the original muffler. If anyone would like to detail pics, let me know.

Thanks to Terry and Bill at Lake & Country Tire!

Sounds reeeeeally good now!

Not sure if you solved your brake problem or not, but if you have original rubber brake hoses, it might be time for a change. Last year, both of my survivor 69 Chevelles had the rubber hoses fail internally and I had the same problem as you with low fluid flow/ pressure. I replaced both the front and rear rubber hoses and problem solved.

Good luck.

Phil

Phil,

Thanks for thinking of me. It is good as of now. A ZL1 cam and power brakes.......... I just gotta live with it a little.

The car stops pretty good considering

I have the original voltage regulator. I wanted to reinstall it. I'm sure it was removed for a good reason. I confiscated an old extra voltage regulator tester from one of the stores I bought years ago. Kinda handy at times like this!

First test..............voltage too high and green light should be on

Second test............voltage too low and green light should be on too

Who have some of you been doing with regulators? Pirkle?
