I think the red/white combo, it looks the best to me.

I empathize with you about wanting to honor something a cool as a Baldwin Motion ride.
Not only is having the money a issue for buying one, you just can't find them.

I will help you any way I can, I studied Motion cars for 3 years while gathering parts and making mine. Matter of fact, I even spoke with Marty Schorr and Joel Rosen before I made my car to make sure they would be ok with a Clone that was as close to perfect as I could make it with NOS parts. They both told me that they were flattered that so many people still revered their work and how happy they were that the younger car guys were keeping their name alive.

Baldwin Motion clones are not exactly a big hit here as most here hate the idea of people trying to scam someone down the road. I agree with why they feel that way, and once these guys know that you just love the cars and want to be a part of the community, they will open up.

There is a lot of good guys here. I have made some great contacts and have been able to get some info and things I needed from them. Just be patient and stay involved.

You can see my car in the Motion photo gallery.

Jeff

Good advice Jeff. Thats what I kind of figured. I mean I was just being born when Motion was in the heat of things. I really like the Motion style of cars because they so much remind me of the models I would build in the 70's and 80's. Everything had big tires and cragars, tunnel rams and traction bars. That was definately my favorite time period of auto cutomization. It was cool to have the carbs comming through the hood and have the tires just peaking out from the fenders. It was a time when guys were not afraid to let the person next to you know (or a least believe) you have some serious power availible under your foot. This is a great forum. I am so happy I found it. It does have lots of good info and you guys all have kick ass cars!

I just took the car to the bodyshop and they quoted me a price of 2,500 to do the stripe. I think thats a bit high so I am going to get few more quotes.

shoot chris ,
i have sneakers as old as you !!!
it is great to see someone that enjoys the "oldstyle" cars.
i think what jeff just said is true, joel and marty must enjoy it as well!
i'm also doing a "clone/tribute/something that looks like" motion vette.
i have gotten the motion: valve covers, torker intake manifold, fly eye air cleaner, lemans gas cap.
these aren't cheap! but it will be worth it when done.
(you can check out my 68 vette at link below.)
i would get some more estimates for the stripe.
glad you found this site.
it has been a great help for me!!!!
and the people here are great !
joe

Come on Joe....sneakers? Maybe a t-shirt left over from a Stones concert....Its intersesting to me that you guys say that Joel and Marty enjoy the following their work has done. I was unsure if they liked the all the fuss their cars have created and am very unsure if they would be receptive to the idea of someone like me "copying" their creativity. Its always cool to get a blessing before you do something like this.
