Default Re: Traco stamp on 074 Head

-----If its the same Traco (and it looks like thier logo), its one of the most famous race engine builders ever. They were located in Culver City very close to Dick Guldstrand Enterprises. If Im not mistaken Shelby was somewhere in the vicinity as well. With factory assistance they were building HD racing pieces at least as early as 65 and probably earlier.
-----I once took a pair of square-port heads off a 66 427/425 Vette that had been "massaged" and were stamped Jocko's Porting Service. You hard-core HP guys will remember the name. I wanted to put them to use but ended selling them as I had nothing on the horizon to use them on...........Bill S

Thanks for the info guys. The head does have various other stampings on it but the Traco one caught my eye. The head is dated 12/30/68. Here are some pics of the other stampings.

I don't know how much help it is, but this web page on Joe Mondello mentions Traco, K&G Speed Shop, and John Mazmanian (aka "Big John")...

that cylinder head is like a friendly blond, looks like everyones had their hands on it.

Gotta be some history with that head, someone spent some serious prep $ on it several times, do you have the matching head or know any more about it
