Found a 67 RS/SS Convertible. All original paint, untouched car. The car was built in Norwood. The data tag is painted white in color... Why? Anyone else see this.

Sounds like a neat car! Got any pics of the car?

I was thinking maybe GM did it at the entrance to the body bank to indicate that the car should be sent to one particular line of the body bank vs. another. Maybe all the cars with the white tag went into one of the three lines that went straight thru the body bank and out onto the assembly line, or vice versa it indicated they would go to one of the other lines that needed to be metered into the assembly line because there was extra work needed, RS, A/C or something like that. Fisher was almost done with the car by the time it cleared the paint booth, about the only thing left was interior installation so unless it was being used to call out a deluxe interior vs a standard, or interior trim option there really wouldn't be a need to mark the car like that, and the UOIT would handle that just like it did for the previous operations.

------The black L79/AC 66 Nova (give-away car) that was just at Mecum was restored with the white painted trim tag. Ive seen it once or twice before and I guess the car was restored as it was found??? Does this have anything to do with the outside color being black???.......Bill S
