-----Both the 90% fitting and the plug shields are absolutely original.
-----The plug shields also are or should be on every 1965/66 Corvette big-block and passenger car big-block as well. The heads even have little bosses cast into them with threaded holes for attachment.
-----I have a friend with a very original Z16 that also has exactly the same chrome-plated fuel fitting. Notice that the fuel fitting on the other side of the filter is also plated. The line and fitting configuration is the same as a 396 65 Vette except that its all chrome plated.......Bill S

Definitely a car that takes your breath away....neat "survivor-type" car.

I talked with the owner when we were at Chevellabration. He was in our same hotel. From what I gathered in our conversation, he was going to leave it unrestored, except the things it may need to be operational.

He showed me where the seat had been repaired in one small spot, and a few other minor fixes.

I am secure enough in my manhood to publicly admit a few things.
1. That Chevelle gives me a stiffy.
2. If I were left alone with that car I would be intimate with it.
3. No matter how amazing some of the masters restore cars today and some of the masters are really incredible I still like the unrestored ones the most.

Great, just really really great. I have a building full of unrestored original paint cars. Les has been in there. ALONE. Where is my black light and the 55 gallon drum of Lysol????

Kidding aside, AWESOME Z16. I agree, nothing like an original car, no matter how scruffy. In fact, the scruffier the better! You can drive the wheels off them and nobody ever says "so, is it real?"

Oh yeah I have rode some of Colins incredible cars in his collection in a few private moments pretty hard and then put them away wet. That 68 Yenko Camaro may be having my love child any day now? It wasn't a pretty sight I can tell you that.
