If you are correct about the heads being original to the block then it should be a 4 bolt main block. The casting number on the heads will make a difference as to the value of the engine. Has the block been decked? Any numbers stamped on the pad? I would guess it's worth at least $5000 or more depending on the heads and the pad stamp.

Yep - thats what my book shows.
How 'bout a value for it. I'm assuming the heads are not the 'original' ones for that block since they are square port. Dang shame we dont know where the body for that engine is so we can match them back up... |

The square port heads may be worth more than the rest of the engine. You need to get the casting numbers and dates for the heads.

-----The Corvette boys will love to get hold of that two-bolt main 351 block. There are plenty of 390 and 400 horse Vette owners around that will pay good money for your short-block.........Bill S

Well, now I have a bit more info
block is definitely the 351 casting (not sure what the guts are) 069 intake drivers side head is casting 3964291 w/ date of E 23 70 pass side head is casting 3904391 w/date of D 8 7 In a very rough '69 chevelle with a M20 (69 dated muncie but not original to the car) and a non-posi 12 bolt (CA code) and a tilt column Can be bought for $5500 - just not sure if I'd make any money parting it out. Opinions? |
