[b]One of the most interesting exhibits to me was the "Panorama of the City of New York." The exhibit is housed in the New York City Building, a building originally built for the 1939 Worlds Fair. It was directly adjacent to the great icons of the '39 Fair, the Trylon and Perisphere. In the '64 Fair it was (and still is) adjacent to the Unisphere.
The building was renovated for the '64 Fair and housed the almost 10,000 square foot architectural model of the five boroughs of the city. The panorama was built by a team of 100 workers taking three years to complete. It has been updated since the end of the Fair and includes every building constructed before 1992. This is almost 900,000 buildings! To view the model you took a simulated nine minute helicopter ride around the City. Lighting would come on and off to highlight sections of the City as you passed by. It is still open today. - - ![]() - ![]() - ![]() - ![]() - ![]() - ![]() - ![]() - ![]() - Take the Ride!
