2000ss is correct. Thoses are the factory ratios.
3:73's were installed in many base model GMMG cars.

Here are the rpo codes that are on the drivers door label:
M6 GU6 3.42 Standard A4 GU2 2.73 Standard A4 GU5 3.23 Optional (standard gear set with an SS/WS6/Firehawk)

Steve: my '98 SS as well as my brother's SS both would knock down around 30 out on the road...both M6 cars w/3.42 gears...I even put 4.10s in mine, and didn't lose hardly any mileage. And check your PM's...

Oh yes! I'm going to pick up my "economy car" this weekend. I checked the wife's ride and it's got a 3.42. The car I'm buying is also a 6spd w/ 3.42's. I can't wait to start saving gas.
