Here is a current Road & Track article regarding the new Camaro, seems like the base will be a V6 in the $20-$30K range with the SS with the LS3 will be in the $30-$40K range in the first release...then later comes the convertible and the top dog Z28 with the detuned LS9/LSA supercharged LS3 engine.
Personally I would like to see the SS be the top dog with a LS7 installed...SS427 Camaro, that has a nice ring to it for some reason. If I had to chose right now, it would be to get the SS with the LS3, take out the LS3, drop in a LS7/LSX and let'r rip...a 427 conversion...that sounds familiar too? R&T 2010 Camaro
