[ QUOTE ]
There were 2575 Z28's built in '72 - rarer then that though - there were only 942 Camaro's built with an M21! But to each his own - enjoy! ![]() [/ QUOTE ] All, I agree I think the guy is crazy not to put it back to original even though it has a CE code. Would still be quite valuable, but hey if he is not going to do so then I need a good engine for my 71 Z28 which has long since been missing it's engine and trans. ![]() And it looks like I could help some guys out with the parts I won't be needing. |

Not that he "needed" to keep it stock (even though being low mile, clean and what it is pushes hard that way) but keeping the original/stock parts is the biggie.

Nice score! I'd double check the date settings on your camera though.

Update to this post
I ended up selling this engine complete to a member here (He can identify if he would like) right after this post around 06/18/2008. He had a 72 Z28 complete minus engine, so this fit him nicely so he could put another 72 Z28 back on the road. Great guy and transaction. I kept in touch with him over the years as to progress of getting the Z put together. Well like many of us other things and cars were more of a priority so nothing was done. He contacted me a year or so ago about thinning his collection as his ability to finish his project cars was diminishing. After selling one of my cars, 67 Chevelle Malibu, I thought of this person and contacted him and asked about the Z28. He stated that the car was still being stored and the engine had never been opened in the crate as I sold him. After some discussions we came to a fair selling price and I purchased the Z28 and the engine I sold him 13+ years ago. The car is now in my shop and I am readying the car for engine and transmission install. I gave the girl a bath after getting the car to my shop and what a difference that made by getting all the years of storage dust off. Then one night I decided to get out my buffer, rubbing compound and polishing compound, and Wow, she is looking real good now. She is not perfect but I like the character she has now. So I plan to get her on the road and drive/show it as it is for a while before thinking of a restoration. Ill add some pictures. Last edited by gearheadmex; 04-23-2021 at 01:10 PM. |
