One reason he did not hang on to this was original owner had to warranty the short block so the block was a CE code, so he decided he would not go the "original" route. (If I owned the car I would have put it all back) Here is a picture I took while picking up the engine.  I peaked at the mileage and it was 48K, not sure how many miles were put on after removal of the 350 but he stated he took it out last year.

Car would be worth more with the original drivetrain in place, CE block and all. To each his own, I guess.
Just curious about that water pump pulley. Is that a 302DZ large diameter pulley? My 70 Z-28 has the 458 smaller diameter L-78 big block pulley installed. Paul

Pretty car but, in my opinion, the owner just destroyed any future value for that car. As it stands right now it is nothing more than a nice Camaro since it no longer has the original rear, trans or engine components. I don't think the CE block would have hurt that car too bad; oh well to each his own.

Great you got the parts and nice to know they're w/ someone appreciates and knows what they have!.
It's a shame about the car though considering the low #'s of '72 Z-28's built...the lowest production next to the '67's..  ~ Pete

 How long has he owned the car? Maybe he's the type who will be bored with it in two years and you can pick it up or make some $$ off of the new owner. Wouldn't be a crazy idea to keep it all together for the future rebuild. What did they build, ~1200 '72 Zs? It's not 1978 anymore...

There were 2575 Z28's built in '72 - rarer then that though - there were only 942 Camaro's built with an M21!
But to each his own - enjoy!

[/ QUOTE ] All, I agree I think the guy is crazy not to put it back to original even though it has a CE code. Would still be quite valuable, but hey if he is not going to do so then I need a good engine for my 71 Z28 which has long since been missing it's engine and trans.  And it looks like I could help some guys out with the parts I won't be needing.
