Try a scrap piece first.............and go sloooooooow.
If you try to heat it too quick or too hot it will bubble and blister.

Kim, its touch and go from solid to bending...if you are on it with the torch the air movement from the tip will distort the material when it gets loose to bend and harden that way, find your vynal graphic guy and borrow his heat gun, they get smoking hot with not much air flow..or drive over and use mine
![]() cant find my buddy to get the gas mix that is the trick. [ QUOTE ] I think I'm going to set it on a small metal pipe and heat it with a plumber propane tank. Thanks guys ![]() [/ QUOTE ] |

ok Kim, I caught up with him, the trick is to use Hydrogen & Oxygen to heat acrylic, as it does no throw soot and load the material with crud, use a rosebud tip and your going to need to rig up some kind of jig to hold your bend, as Acrylic has a memory and will try to go back to its original shape when it cools.
he also warned like I said there is a fine line of getting it loose to work with and over heating, if you over heat it, it will make tiny bubbles in the material where you were working and they will not flow out with more heat, the piece is junk at that point unless you can live with the bubbles. get to work! ![]() |
