Neat pics Tommy....sorry to hear about your mom...
Those pics of Huntsville bring back some memories...though I was living there in the early 60's...

She passed away in 92. Time really flies. Bruce, you surely must have made the trip up Monte Sano Mountain. Thats where those pics were taken. There are several scenic overlooks on the way up and down that road (or pkwy as we call it).
I have several photo albums of cars that I can't find for some reason. I know I have one of drag races in England in the 70's. American cars and British stuff. I'll keep looking around Tommy ![]() |

Here's a skinny pic of me in 78. I just recently found this car again after selling it in 1990.

it used to be "cool" to pinstripe the heck out of the cars ... forgot about that, even the windows were pinstriped .... [/ QUOTE ] Yes, it was a 6, powerglide car when I got it. I had done so many cars that were all engine and no brakes or suspension, that I did it the other way on this car. There weren't too many aftermarket suspension parts in the late 70's, so I went GM parts bin shopping. I parted out a 70 442, and got the steering box, Posi rear and front discs for the Malibu. In went a 79 Trans Am front sway bar, (1 1/4") a 72 GTO rear bar (1 1/8") and custom made boxed lower control arms. Had a custom alignment done and a few other tweeks, added Rally wheels and the best 60 series tires I could afford at the time. Took it out for the first drive and discovered the car cornered so well, I couldn't stay behind the wheel. So next came some 79 Z28 buckets. After that was all done, a 71 Belair donated it's 350, turbo 400 for motivation. Headers, dual exhaust, an HEI and an Alum intake with a Q-jet kept me happy for a few years. In the mid 80's I picked up a 71 402 and started to make it a big block car. I sold it after losing interest, and I guess the next guy made it an SS396. As a Canadian car though it will come up as a 6/glide if docs are requested from GM of Canada. I had a lot of fun with that car including autocross and club days at out local road race track, Westwood. This was back in 79-80 when I would literally have the largest car on the track. Won my share of events too! |
