Jay
Welcome here and cool old shots too...
Ditto what Sam said about Ohio plates, our's were A***C. Akron area. My Dad always said it would be neat to drive out of the area to get a differant letter combo.
Do you ever go to the Friday cruise at the A&W in Boardman, or Saturday Night in Boardman ? I always pass through Berlin Center on my way out 224 to Boardman.
And as I pass the sign in Canfield I always think of poor Sam stuck out in all that AZ sunshine...

Cool Stuff
Mike

Thanks for the welcome! I'm actually from Canfield too and the majority of these pics were taken in the Canfield/Ellsworth area with a few from North Jackson. All of my family is from this area and is still here.

I grew up cruising 224 and even State Street down in Salem. I still go to Boardman when I can to check out the Chili's parking lot at the mall. It has a lot more room than A&W.

It's nice to meet you all. I'm glad I was directed to this place.

I'm glad you were too! I REALLY enjoyed your pics, as well as those posted by the other new members Dave (htweelz) and Jason (JNF)

-------OK all you Akron area boys,,,what was the name of the drive-in on the south west side of Akron??? It was in the Barberton/Norton area (not far from Knafel, maybe?), and had some serious iron running thru it almost every night. Also, the little drive-in in Wadsworth on the west side of town right on 224??? For being in Wadsworth that little place drew some bad boys!!!.....Bill S

"The Flame"...and right around the corner on Arlington St. was the "Big Boy".

Bill

Correction on above post, Big boy was on Main St., not Arlington Rd.

Ahh, the good old days. When men were still chivalrous and Elvis Costello still ruled the streets
