He also said that Duntov would walk through the engineering lab(s) and request an informal update (in a thick accent): "How arrrr yu du-ing?"

After listening quietly and attentively while they explained all the technical attributes of whatever they were working on he would dismiss them, saying "...do da best you cahn...".

I have taken to saying that, now, as I walk away (which normally results in having to tell the whole story as relayed here).

I am, for some morbid reason, drawn to the old B&W accident photos. Thanks for posting. Interesting exhaust system on the '66 GTO. One muffler replaced with a mini-muffler or some such thing!

Looks like a glass pack.. Did you also notice the 2 small resonators back by the tailpipes too?

I remember an issue of Motor Trend in the early 70's that had an article and photos on collisions, and it was mostly muscle cars. I remember photos of SS Chevelles and others.

----A long time ago the NCRS national meet was in Mass. north of Boston. Duntov had been invited as a guest speaker for the weekend. The host hotel was on top of a hill with a winding road from the show field up to it. Zora was given a gas powered golf cart to get around, but he deemed it too slow. Next thing we knew he had taken it apart and modified it. The thing halled ass after that and all weekend Zora could be found screaming up and down that road to the hotel.......Bill S

Back in the day when most of those cars had steel dashes and they just hosed out the interior and moved along, ugh.
