It was (is?) part of a two-jet team called the "Starfighters," as in F-104 Starfighter. The other team F-104 is a two-seater. One of the pilots, a former USAF F-104 Weapons School instructor back in the '60s, was killed a few years ago in a privately-owned Hawker Hunter (1950s British jet fighter) when the engine quit after liftoff and it went into a stand of trees and I think the show routine ended after his death. I saw the Starfighters team at the Reno Air Races several years ago and it was great to see two F-104s roaring round in formation. There's also a few "Starfighters" video clips on YouTube.
