Re: 69 Z/28 Feature Showcase Teaser.. Vintage Pict
At this moment 40 years ago, I drove away from Bob Eriksen Chevy, Milan, Illinois thinking, life doesn’t get better than this! I remember massaging the chrome shifter knob and listening to “Son of a preacher man” by Dusty Springfield! KSTT 1170 am Davenport, Iowa and WLS 890 am Chicago were belting out the hits one after another. I drove home only to quickly shower anticipating good times are lying ahead of me tonight. 300 miles, $12.50 in gas, $3.00 at Deb’s Drive Inn for pit stops to buy cheese burgers and cherry cokes, one police officer writing a ticket, and a very long night, it was bed time for the Chevyman finally at 2:00 am! I met lots of new people that night other than the cop of course. The next morning Saturday the 9th was another new experience. ( refer to page 11 post titled “Low RPM Story”. Times were simple, like me, and lots of fun to be had all around our great hobby and the love of the automobile. Life has been good to me and I have experienced many blessings with family and all, but as far as the car thing I have never anticipated something so much as I have with the up coming car show. I have never attended an all Chevy Show or been to one with so many cars under one roof. Then add a special collection of my all time favorite model. I’m looking forward to meeting all of you guys in the Z Showcase as well. I am extremely appreciative of Dean Davis, Mike Piecyk, Darren Costello, and Bob Ashton for the tremendous invitation, helping with the prep, and hospitality that they have shown me! Happy Birthday Z, thanks for the ride all the way to the ChevyVetteFest November 2008!
