Well, I received a reply from him, but it's unprintable. He actually used a 4 letter word!

Oh great...looks like Lex Luthor is back?.
We've discussed this same operator here a few times before...apparent GM vehicle document fraud artist and NCRS member Brian Mallyon of Calgary Canada?.
Besides aging paperwork in his easy bake oven, this same guy's eBay history has even shown him buying specific era watermarked paper...seems like he may go to extreme details to supply so called novelty documents?.

You know, I'd like to hear more about this suppossed NCRS
stance on forged documents and engine stamps. I'm having
difficulty understanding this. I spent a lot of time over
at the NCRS.org site and no one ever talked about this topic
there.

You get full points if it "appears" original. They don't really care if it is or not or try to determine if it is or not.

Verne,

I really thought the Corvette guys represented the top of the
heap on restoration integrity. I'm really surprised with
that position on documentation........

Yes it's sad but true and something we really need to work hard against the same BS further infiltrates our world...more than it has already that is..
Sadly some here do already condone 'restoration engines' and such so those of us who prefer the real cars need to make some clear stands on certain issues..
I always think of the Body Snatchers movie and how those that didn't belong were pointed at and acknowledged...we need to do a similar thing when we see that kind of BS here and be clear what's real or not before the values between the two becomes further blurred and like it has in the Vette world..
And don't get me wrong as I love Vettes...especially mid-year Mk1V coupes!.

------Im not much of an NCRS guy anymore but as some of you know I do have a bit of a Corvette backround. With that said I believe that the NCRS guys do care about originality. They are just saying that basicly they simply cant pick the better restamps out anymore because the re-broaching and stamping has progressed to such a high level. That and possibly the legal costs of defending calls made on the judging feild.......Bill S

Bill, not to try and turn this into an NCRS thread, but I agree with you. As a modifier of my other post, I will say that they have a lot of hard working and dedicated members who want the best for the cars. IF they can pick out a reproduction part on a car, it will be noted as so and originality points will be deducted. They also have to deal with the monster they created. In other words, many bogus cars have passed Top Flight judging and people are referring to those cars as "NCRS Certified" to gain a higher value. A lot of people have the perception that the award certifies the car to be original and they look at it as though it was real documentation. The award simply means that, in the judges' view, the car appears the way an original one should appear. Two identical cars - one real and one a clone - would score the same. IF the judges are fooled, it's unfair to hold that against them or the organization. But I also feel it is unfair to history to hold the cars to judging criteria that may be flawed and does not allow for production mistakes or anomalies.
