The car looked like a birthday party the way it was repainted.

I doubt this is the first Harrell/Yenko built. But #706 makes it VERY early. And yes, the car had some serious paint. ..BKH

Good question about the stripes. Here is what we have found out since the resto. We all know the story of the JD Yenkos. Not all the additional cars had the Yenko stripes. It appears that perhaps 4 different versions of JD cars were sold. I have talked to original owners, an have seen period pictures to help with this question. Fully striped versions of Douglass/Yenkos were sold, how many is a guess. There is a version that has dealer installed hockey stripe with the Yenko medallions on the top side of the fender above the crease. Another version like we did Chris's that would retain the original X11 fender pin striping with the Yenko crests, and finally a bone stock Douglass double COPO. We felt very stong that Chris had the X11 stripe version. As more evidence is found out, we can always add to Chris car if indeed his had the full stripes. It's far easier to add than subtract. For now they sit in his trunk. We all felt this was the best way to show this car. To me its every bit as nice and to some even more interesting. Douglass cars were ordered just a bit fancier than the Yenko conterparts. Just another version of a very beautiful car. I hope that clears it up somewhat...BKH

What is the date on that photo Chris? Did the car in the pic sell new from Douglass with the hockey stripes? Did that car have any Yenko badges? I don't see any on the fenders, but maybe the rear tailpanel? How many yellow COPOs did Jack Douglass sell? (oops, I see Bill already asked the same question!)
