A picture is worth a thousand words. If I was there I could have it out in under 10 minutes, once the steering wheel & c-clip holding the lock plate is off.
The entire key lock assembly is what I am referring to,& yes your other one will slide right into the new column. Can you take a pic to show your progress? |

I sure would be able to do that! Well, atleast I don't have to take the whole column apart to do this. I did that to clean it up a bit anyway. Practice makes perfect. I didn't check, but is this one thing that not too many people dive into when they are restoring cars?? I mean taking apart the whole entire column. I had the whole thing apart and cleaned and back together in like 2 hrs. This might be something I could share with the rest by taking pictures and documenting for everyone if they would like? Thanks for the input Rick!

There is a picture in the Chevrolet service manuals that shows the slot you need to access, and it may be covered with casting flash as mentioned by Mr 70. Do you have a service manual ? Any year after 69 should work. Mike |

Jed, look at Jim Sheas link here. Once you open the document scroll all the way down. Thats a picture of the flashing that you need to break away. http://jimshea.corvettefaq.com/wp-co...dr_104de07.doc

Thanks for the info, but my computer will not let me open the pictures for some reason. LOL. At least this was a bit more informative then the Haynes Manual.
