No it's not a COPO car. The Knafel Acadian ran in the NASCAR Ultra/Stock drag racing class where the rules stated that the car and engine had to be of the same make. Knafel decided to go with the Canadian Acadian so they could run a very competitive 427 engine and still be considered a Pontiac. Because the Acadian used a Chevy drivetrain, this was considered legal by NASCAR. I don't believe NHRA ever did recognize any of the Canadian Pontiacs. The photo below is from a 1967 points meet at Suffolk Raceway and the Chevy wagon in the far lane is Ted Hartman's "Bad Banana".

Has anyone tried contacting Arlene Vanke for Info? He was associated with Knafel for quite a while before going with Chrysler. Both from the Akron, OH area.
