Cool. Nearly wildfire proof on the basement section, same for tornado's too. Moisture will be the issue but a sealant and a couple of dehumidifiers should take care of that. The last concern I would have is that on a hot day the cars could "sweat" when you would open the lower door, but the desert looking climate of the build site may take care of that too.

Pretty cool ! I think the old missile silo's that people convert into living quarters are neat too.

What lower door? The garage seems to be only the upper level. The lower level is a gym & theater. What a waste of good space, LOL.

No problem Sam. Yep, that wouldn't fly around here either...not to mention the cost of that land in the city would be a killer! Here's my $30,000 garden shed

What he is building is pretty COOL but I don't think you can do something like that in many areas.Around houston here you would have to install a couple of diesel pumps to keep it dry!LOL , I just hope the guy is planning on staying there a LONG LONG time!Because he sure has spent a LOTS OF $$$ on that project.

I think its cool and its what he wants and can afford so all the power to him. I have a neighbor that has a 100 foot underground hallway from his garage to house. apparently he knows about the future rain forecast better than the rest of us in the desert. City approved it but seemed like a waste of money to me but free choice is a cool thing.

I think I envy the detached below ground home theater and workout area as much as the shop. And I love that it looks like part of the house instead of a shed.
I just wish he didn't put a price tag on that dream (quarter mil, before he does the home theater, which will probably be another $100K, judging by his enthusiasm and exacting taste.) I do like the comment made that not everything you put into your house is an investment, sometimes its just money you spent. Hopefully you're able to get your money's worth. I sometimes have to remind myself that the cars are this way, too. |
