Just curious..........did Chevy offer an auto with the '65 L-78?? I have a soft spot for that model since my high school buddy had one in '68.

No automatic was available for the L78. Only the M21 and 22 and the M13 3 speed. Can you imagine driving an L78 with a three on the tree!! It was possible..

Thanks That's what I would have guessed. My buddy's car was a hi-speed rocket. We had a little speed contest one day with my '69 Road Runner. I had him by 4-5 car lengths at first because he just spun the tires, but before the end of the marked 1/4mi he flew past me like I was standing still!

The first automatic put behind a solid lifter BBC was in '68. If I recall correctly, a bunch of those cars went to a little town in Western Illinois.

This '65 Imp is one gorgeous, kick-a$$ car!

Had a 62 0909
had a 64 09 340
now i have a 67 396

Bill,was great to see it on road and in the show.Had a good time and your car looked great.Wish i had the garage space for it.Like to see you hang on to it,but good luck with the sale anyway.
