Default Re: 63 409 Impala on Ebay??

I and a friend in OH try to keep track of every 58-64 that comes up for sale with a vin. IT's just a way of keeping history on a car's migration through owners. We've already tracked some cars through 5 owners in the last 3 years....and the cars certainly have gone through some "changes" in that time. Sometimes we get an inquiry about a cars history or it's authenticity. IT's just a way of helping people. (at no charge by the way)

I just received this reply to my email to the seller requesting a photo of the cowl tag...

Hello

I'm really sorry for this late reply but I've been very busy lately and away from a computer. People think it's real funny to bid on a car and not pay for it and I have removed the auction because I had an agreement with a potential buyer. This person, which I do not know who it is has no answer to my repeated e-mails.I do not know what to do. The total price including shipping cost and insurance charges is $11,200 (shipping is payed in advance by me). The price is considerably lower then others on the market because I need to sell it really fast. The car has all the services done at the dealership. The vehicle was never crashed. I always garaged it and serviced it, kept very good care of it!.The vehicle is currently located in Potomac, MD but unfortunately I am in Anchorage, AK planning to open a business here and I don't think I can come sooner then next month. However I can arrange for the paperworks from here and I can talk to a shipping company to deliver the vehicle to your address.I think it's impossible to buy a vehicle for such a big amount without having an inspection first. So I had a look on eBay and I saw they could help us with this. Since the transaction worths a lot of money they've suggested to make the deal only through eBay so that we won't have any problems. If you decide to buy all the papers are ready, just needed to be signed by you. If you agree with these terms, please send me your full name, home and shipping address, ebay ID so I can register the transaction with eBay asap.
Thank you, Catherine Delaney

I understand why you would record the VIN on a legit sale but why this one. It will shed a negative light on a car that is probably very nice.

Jason, I think you misunderstand my intentions. The VIN would not be linked to that fradulent sale; only the fact that the car was advertised somewhere (in a legit sale) and it was a black on black SS with a 2x4 409, 4-spd, green floors, etc. "at that time". It's the same as if walked into a parking lot today, saw the same car and recorded the same info. IT is what it is at this time. I don't intend to link the car to that ebay seller.

Ohhh, the old "the car is in Maryland and I'm in Alaska story......"

Well the money for a nice 63 Impala SS (preferably a 327 300 horsepower, 4 speed car) is still in a bank account in Indiana. I'll be back after I check my e-mail and see if I got the same story.
