Jay is now in Socal and doing fine. Most parts places know him well because he owns "Details". He was probably the first guy selling the front end bolt kits etc to all the dealers. The red red 69 Z28 I had used to be Jay's. One of the good guys.

The Nixon car was at SC-Indy 1984 or so-I always take notes:
124379N640330 NOR 292815 711 72 72 05A X44 - was not black originally. It was there with another COPO owned by Sam Pierce: 124379N643841 NOR 292800 711 72 B 05A X11 The latter COPO was from Bob McDorman Chev in Ohio.

Boy, that brings back memories. I remember seeing that car in "Super Chevy" and "Classic Sixties". It's picture is still on the Details paint cans. I always heard Jay sold the car because it was an original orange car they had painted black. As the restorations got more accurate he sold the car because of the color change. The car was one of the first restored copo's out there. I see on his website he'd like to have it back. I've got Jay's brake lines on my car...he was the first to do them as well as used other parts from him and his paints. Also have Al Colvin's chambered exhaust. I always wondered what happened to Jay after he sold his stuff to Brian Caudell, (another MIA). I guess he took it back over after moving to Ca. I didn't know he was still involved...another guy from "back in the day". That was a really neat time in the hobby.

That's for sure. I would spend 3 days at SC-Indy and still not see everything. Todays' Super Chevy shows are nothing like they were in the '80s.
