If you want the car to be more correct you could remove the paint from the engine pad and at the same time it would be much easier for people to confirm orig stamping.

Thanks. Unfortunately, no "expert" or "third party" could call an engine stamping based on those pics due to the orange paint. I also asked if it was a restamp because your ad doesn't state that this is the original engine.

Anyone other than the original owner declaring this or ANY motor as original is speculation at best in my mind. Look no further than a quick google search to find some "service" willing to "grain" (recreate factory broach marks after a block has been trued) and restamp your motor for you. Thank the Corvette contingent of the hobby for that one.

The owners previous and present believe that this motor is the original one. If the purchase hinges on stripping the paint off the stamp pad, I am certain that the current owner is willing to do that.

My point was the car would be mor correct with the paint stripped off.

[/ QUOTE ] You are right Charlie, it would be. I really wish more Chebbie restorers took the time to mask the stamp pad off when they paint the block. I'd make my job easier. No worries Charlie. Have you called the winning bidder on Robosaurus yet? (You know you want to.) .
