A 5500 redline tach would be from an L78 396/375HP car.. This being an L34 396/350HP car should have/probably had a 5000 redline tach....

Pretty sure redlines are as follows:

5,000...L48
5,500...L34
6,000...L78

Wilma, I thought they were 4500 for L48, 5000 for the L34 & 5500 for the L78 but I could be wrong..

This is a picture of a Nova Big Block Tachometer:
This tachometer has a 5000 RPM red line. This tachometer was used on the 396 / 350 HP big block V8 cars.

I believe all L78's had the 6000 redline only.

Why would chevy lower the redline to 5500 on the L78 for the Nova and every one application it was 6000? I say 6000, I think your reading the tach incorrectly....
