731 is the standard black bench seat interior...this car has repop deluxe seat covers, repop deluxe door panels with the original sun-faded handles....has potential..but like so many others..lacks in the details. Best to look at it in person....

You people really need to quit bashing every car that comes up for sale in the country, using your "expert" criteria on every car. Pete, you've got 1700 posts and almost all that I've read are trying to stir up something about a car.

It bothers me on this one because I know the car.

I know the guy that's selling the car- I know the car- I've seen the car before restoration and after. It's a very nice car. The mileage is right- the documents are real- the numbers are there. That is not the original air cleaner- he never said it was anywhere in the ad- and he is smart enough to know it's not the right one. The original air cleaner was lost, and getting the right one was not cost effective.
He's also not asking $100,000 for it.

I'm sorry to pop off, but you guys spend way too much time picking innocent people's cars apart and judging them all as if they were being sold as Vette- Fest Gold Spinner winners.

Amen and very well said, redeuce. I'm a little tired myself of self-proclaimed 'experts' ripping apart other cars to show off their knowledge of certain vehicles. Even when they're not even for sale like the Fathom Green '69 Camaro in the new Hemmings musclecar magazine that ended up belongng to a member of this very own board. I guess picking flaws is what you do when you can't afford the car.

OUCH!!!
I may be in the minority here but...I come to this site for the knowledge of the members. We DO have "experts" here and if they did not impart their knowledge then I would feel slighted. If you are going to advertise a car as a "frame off restoration" then be ready to hear what is not correct on the job you did. You can rebuild a car from the ground up, but if you don't put it back to the way it rolled off the dealers floor then it is a rebuild not a restoration. As for the "not being able to afford" part...do you think that every "expert" at documenting art for the Louvre can afford to by the art for themselves? Does that make them any less an expert?

Ray, you are not in the minority by a long shot...people who want to advertise a car for sale here should look at the positive side of the collective knowledge available...I for one would be glad to help anyone with info on Novas...photos, resto stuff, etc...and I'm sure others would do the same for other makes and models...it is true we can sometimes be a little "picky" but that is the price of admission. Besides, once a car goes to Ebay the scrutiny becomes even more important(at least for me)...now back to the car...bench seat TH400 L78 Novas are a rare bird and are a blast to drive(I know )...this car appears to have most of the right stuff and Fathom Blue is a cool color...perhaps it will find a good home and be enjoyed....ps: looks like the bidding has ended

Tom, I agree 100%. I have been messing with 70-74 Camaros for almost 30 years and I still learn things about them on this site.

If people don't want negative comments, then do it right. If not, then don't over-advertise it. Why is this so hard for some folks

Reduce and Mark Johnson, Tom Williams is a 69/70 Nova expert.
I do not see most of the critique remarks as being "bashing" or "ripping". This websites readers either own many high dollar accurate restos (ala SCW customers), or many of the rest of us, are interested in details being accurate.
Nobody was implying that the Nova owner/seller is being deceitful. It is just being pointed out what parts and areas of restoration are accurate and what items or issues are NOT corrrectly done.
Last I heard members here have the right to post civil remarks about what they see or think in so far as restoration originality goes.
If you dont want these remarks made about your vechicle, you shouldnt participate in this public forum.
BTW, I wish ALL posters would have the common decency to at least sign off with a first name and last intial.
All this living behind a screen name is nonsense!!!!
Do you walk around the SCR10 or your work place calling friends and associates by a "screename"

my .02 and best regards,

HEY FELLAS IT IS CALLED CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM.... NOBODY IS BASHING ANYONE'S CAR.. THAT WAS NOT MY INTENT FOR POSTNG THIS AD!!! I THOUGHT IT WAS A COOL LOOKING CAR AND LIKE WILMA STATED, L78 BENCH SEAT TH400 NOVAS ARE RARE CARS AND FUN TO DRIVE!! I REALLY LOVE THEM!! YEAH, I KNEW THE AIR CLEANER WAS WRONG AND SAID SO, BIG DEAL!! MAYBE THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN DISCLOSED IN THE E-BAY AD.. I SEE LOTS OF PEOPLE OUT THERE THAT DO NOT KNOW ANY DIFFERENT AND TO THAT INDIVIDUAL THAT PURCHASES THE CAR, THINKS ITS CORRECT, THEN SHOWS IT ONLY TO GET IT PICKED APART BY A JUDGE AT A SHOW AND DEDUCT POINTS.. HOW DO YOU THINK THAT PERSON WOULD FEEL.. MAYBE IT'S BETTER TO KNOW AHEAD OF TIME OR BEFORE SOMEONE BIDS $40,000.00, YOU THINK?? AND YES, THERE ARE EXPERTS ON THIS SITE THAT ARE A WEALTH OF KNOWLEDGE WHEN IT COMES TO CERTAIN CARS AND I VALUE THEIR CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM AND EXPERT KNOWLEDGE.. I THINK YOU ARE "READING INTO" THINGS TOO MUCH.. I CAN ONLY DEFEND MYSELF AND CAN'T SPEAK FOR ALL!! MAYBE THERE ARE SOME INDIVIDUALS THAT JUST LOVE TO "PICK THINGS APART" FOR THEIR OWN GRATIFICATION AND IF SO SHAME ON THEM... THATS ALL I HAVE TO SAY!!

RICH

Rich is correct, the more disclosure in an ad the better. When we talk about cars like this, it's a learning experience for all of us - not a bash session!
