As often as not, people will quietly try to ship a car like this down the road before anyone notices. It's getting harder all the time though with web sites like this. I'm with Kim.

Whatever you decide to do, would it be wrong to note the complete Vin here so anyone searching it online has a chance at finding out the truth before it's too late?.

If it's true, personally I can't see how it could be legally wrong to make it known in an open forum like this?. At least if someone seaches the Vin and comes across this thread, the trail may not be too cold to hold whoever has/had the car responsible?. Even if the repop Vin tag matches the car it's on, it's still wrong!. I hate little in this world (and don't even use the word around my kids), but do admit I really HATE repop and/or transplanted Vins/Cowl tags and how they erode our hobby!!!. ~ Pete ![]() |

No as in let's see the VIN number. Give members the heads up to investigate further as to the reason why the VIN tag was replaced. Could be legit but at least we are informing people to be careful if they are interested in that car.
I once had this 69 GTO convertible that had a VIN plate that was so rusted, it was impossible to identify the VIN number. Good thing I had a legit Title and PHS docs to verify the car. I sold it to someone who was going to restore the car back to original condition. Point is that maybe there is a legitimate reason to replace that VIN plate. On another note Pete, you got some kudos in print from the guy you hooked up with that red 67 Beaumont 'vert. ![]() |

[/ QUOTE ] Sure, it makes sense to let someone explain a legit reason for a replacement Vin...just the foolishness and trickery of recent years has made the few valid reasons suspect and soured me away from any of it. .I passed on a stolen/recovered '72 Z28 years ago with a cutoff saw wheel-whiz through the w'shld into the Vin tag.. Considering '72 production, I should've put the grab on it anyway but passed on the car because of the defaced Vin thing...bought the M22 out of it for $200 though! .What '67 Beaumont deal? .~ Pete ![]()
