Their doing it here in Ontario Canada too. Last weekend
3 people were racing on the 400 hiway cutting in and out of traffic. One of the cars cut a transport off and the driver did avoid crashing into other traffic and was Killed leaving 2 small kids and a wife. The politicians are taking about crushing all cars that have been modified and could be used for racing not just the racers. Giving the Cops this power will
be a serious problem for classic cars too.If a cop wants to be an dic--K head he stops me and says that my car 1968 Camaro will be used for racing and impounds my car for crushing.
Scary [censored].
When the politicians get involved the wrong people end up paying for the guilty ones.

I hate it when other people do stupid stuff, causing laws to be enacted that then will affect me, when in fact I was doing nothing to cause this situation.

I can tell you that if that situation came about where a cop pulled me over to confiscate my musclecar, he would find himself dead.

Sounds just like the 1950s, 60s, 70s in SoCal--or anywhere else in those years. Street racing will never die. I just raced a guy today in my STi on my way to pick up my son from his music lesson. Yes, I won.

Here in South Jersey, Philly, and Delaware.... it happens all the time... The ricers are stupid, and deserve whatever punishment they get. The domestic guys do it with zero traffic, early hours of morning on back roads. "Time and a place" Street racing will never die.

We've all likely done it. The world hasn't changed that much, we simply have more activists these days with way more time on their hands.

Stupid people doing stupid things will get their just deserts.

In the meantime, I don't think squealing the tires and running through 2 or 3 gears on a deserted highway will hurt anyone.

JMO...

Sorry to semi-hijack the post but...

They have simply found a novel way to use an existing law which is on the books in every state and federal jurisdiction. Word to the unwise: this is the same law that allows the police to crush any car with a VIN tag on it that was originally on another car, i.e. a rebody "restoration." I have been telling people for years that it is illegal to remove, sell, alter a VIN tag, or put one on a car it did not originally come from the factory with. There are no exceptions to the rule, none. So saying you are saving the only 1965 Z16 Chevelle 396 ragtop (as a hypothetical example) because it was too rusted to salvage, so you put its VIN on a rust free 6 cyl ragtop body, would mean the car can be seized and crushed.
