bottom line is if this is a nascar rule than you really cant blame bill. plus, i'll guarantee you Bill doesn't use all 6 provisionals like DJ did.

I think your right, MWR just can't get any real speed from those Toyotas. But the Woods Bros. will make the next 6 races for sure and they can market the team and Wild Bill to get them a little more exposure. I would love to see that team run well again, and I don't care who drives.

nascar has peaked in popularity.

the younger generation has absolutely no interest in this crap.

why no interest?

because all the drivers are robots.

now they have to dig up fossils like this guy to keep the older faithful fans from switching the channel to golf, which is about as exciting as a NASCAR race.

andy, in 2001 when dodge and ray evernham brought in a 46 year old Bill Elliott to be the flag bearer for his race team opinions like yours were everywhere. Bill went on to win 4 races (should of been 5) over the next 3 years and pretty much made naysayers eat crow. this "fossil" also won most popular driver over dale jr. so go ahead and let the younger crowd watch golf. i'm 30, a bill fan and will be pulling hard for the "old school" Wood Brothers and Bill Elliott.

NASCAR (and NHRA, etc.) has gotten so corporate that people are getting turned-off. All the logo placement and the "I gotta' thank Home Depot, Pizza Hut, UPS, Mrs. Butterworth's," crap makes them all sound the same. I watch "Back in the Day" with Dale Jr. and it's fun to see real men--racing cars you can identify--in T-shirts and smoking Winstons and getting dirty.

And another thing: Today everything is "awesome." "My car was awesome, my crew was just awesome, and I gotta's thank my awesome wife--she's just so awesome." Thank God for the MUTE button.

Okay Bruce, I agree with that particlular application of the word "awesome." You're awesome too!

I have a "walked away" VHS from 1990 that my son loves.

Agreed!! If everything was so 'awesome' during their interview, why didn't they win the stupid race. I would like to hear the 'no-spin' interview - oh yea, you have to listen in on the crew's headsets for the truth!

I'd like to see the corporate logo's replaced with creative names that elude to a corporation, ie; take the 'Corn Flakes' off of the Kellog car, and name it 'Flaked Out' or something. This is now corp. 'A' racing against corp. 'B' - which becomes a money war, which promotes 'who cares'.

Remember when whats-his-name ran out of fuel on the last lap of the Indy 500 a few years ago? I think he was leading and the car went kaput in turns 3 and 4. He was yelling the f-word repeatedly as the car coasted toward the entrance to the pits and his transmissions were broadcast live! It was hilarious. "F______K, IT'S OUT OF GAS!!! F_________K!!!"
