Youd be better off making 9.00 an hour, not need to have any insurance or healthcare,or pay any income taxes ,than make 25.00 an hour and have to pay all of the above . A friend of mine hired an illegal to do roofing. The guy fell off the roof and sued him for 20K. Not only did my friend have to pay the 20K to an illegal alien, he couldnt deduct it from his taxes[which is normally allowed] because he hired an illegal worker. [ QUOTE ]
STOP BEING SEDUCED BY CHEAP LABOR AND THE PROBLEM MIGHT JUST GO AWAY. [/ QUOTE ] The problem is the people WE hire are the ones hiring illegals. I couldnt have a simple conversation with 2 of the delivery people that brought a tv to me from one of the major chain stores. What do they do at the job interview to get hired???smile and nod???? |

Well put Jeff. I admit I have little sympathy for illegal aliens -- we're becoming infiltrated rapidly in our area -- .........but the treatment of the Native Americans is a whole different issue. They are TRUE Americans by most definitions, and look at what they've endured. Say what you want, but my feelings are very strong on this topic.

Coming to America to assimilate and become a part of our culture is one thing. Coming here to take land, hand-outs and to colonize is quite another.

And that's the point. Apparently some (how many,?) of these mexicans (and again, when we say mexicans, do we mean, gutalmalins(sp) hondorins, cubans etc etc) are looking to colonize into the california et al territories and annex them as a mexican state, "Aztlan". Scary thought, and one that is a constitutional threat!
This is what the national guard is for! Not Iraq. We need to have the guard augment the border patrol and stop this mess NOW! In an article, they quoted a protestor as saying that they want to pay taxes, "Pay Tax today, Vote Tomorrow"!

I've used this analogy here before but I think it clearly explains the problem of illegal labor:
Say you want a hole dug in your backyard for a new swimming pool. You call a local (American) building contractor. He arrives in his new $40,000 crew-cab pickup (yeah, it's got a Hemi) with $3,000 worth of chrome wheels and mud tires. The truck has a trailer hitch for towing his $30,000 bass fishing boat. He usually puts his four dirt bikes in the bed when he goes on vacation and tows the four ATVs on a trailer. If duck season opens when he's half-way through digging the hole for your pool he will leave the job and go duck hunting for a week. (There is a clause in the contract that you missed that says he shall be allowed to leave the job site for opening day of duck, deer, salmon, pheasant, etc., etc. season.) His fee for digging the pool is $3,000, not including a disposal fee for the mound of dirt. Juan Martinez, an illegal alien from Mexico, will arrive in his 1975 Datsun short-bed pickup with his wife at his side and his four kids will be sitting in the bed. He brought six shovels, one for himself, one for Juanita, his wife, and four more for his children, ranging in age from 15 down to 6. They will all dig. His fee for digging your pool is $500 cash and they will not stop digging until the job is finished. You'll pay him cash, he will say "Gracias, muchas gracias!" and leave. If he hurts himself while digging, his family will double their efforts and finish the job--no OSHA claim to sweat over. So who will you hire? By the way, the American contractor will have hired Juan and his family to dig the hole and pocket $2,700 bucks. He will have paid Juan only $300 to do the job after threatening to report Juan to the INS. Illegal labor is like crack cocaine. We know we shouldn't use it but it's JUST SO DAMN CHEAP! |

Who are you going to hire? [/ QUOTE ] Its a double edge sword, either you hire Juan Martinez, or you pay the guy with the crew cab, and HE contracts Juan Martinez for you as the general contractor. Either way Juans going to get the job. |

[ QUOTE ] Coming here to take land, hand-outs and to colonize is quite another. [/ QUOTE ] They don't take any land, we sell it to them . (I think we took the land from Mexico, if memory serves.) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mexican-American_War [/ QUOTE ] Some facts yes, but mostly out of context. After mexican independence (from spain) in 1821, Mexico became a representative republic till approx. 1834. During this time mexican military leaders frequently revolted. One of these generals was Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna. This character was elected in 1833 but decided that becoming a dictator was a better deal for him. Americans and mexicans in what is essentially present day texas, revolted against this dictator. They whipped his ass and Texas became an independent country in 1836. Texas joined the United States in 1845, Mexico disputed Texas' autonomy and attacked the Texas border again in 1846. This led to the mexican-american war, which again, resulted in a total defeat for the Mexican DICTATOR Santa Anna in 1848. At this time the treaty of guadalupe hildago was signed, and CA. AZ. NV. NM. and parts of adjoining states were ceded to the U.S. for the sum of 15 million dollars (that's a couple of dragon snakes worth of $$ for you car-only folks). To sum it up, Mexico started not one, but two wars, lost them both, and got paid for their trouble after the second one. Their government has been since then, and will always be, a corrupt cesspool. The notion that we have taken, or are taking anything but crap from Mexico, is completely false. BTW they have been violating our border sovereignty (at least in Texas) for nearly 40 years now, the only difference today, is they are achieving critical mass with the help of an idiot that I voted for. And yes, I am a former Texan. (World Book 2001) and some old history class notes

We have learned nothing from the American Indians (or Native Americans, {trying to be PC just this once)
Just ask one if they regret; 1) FAILURE TO SECURE BORDERS 2) FAILURE TO STOP ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION I read somewhere recently that democracies throughout world history usually only last about 200 years. We better wake up !! ![]() ![]() |
