DANA "427" Camaro found...thanks to Jeff Chlupsa

There's a video on their website showing the shower/recycle method that works with a garden hose, bottle sprayer and/or pressure washer. It looks like the trick is to recapture and recycle the solution for multiple "showers" of the same area of treatment. I forget the product name of the derust/degrease stuff we use now at work, but I'm always looking for a better way to keep 45 semi trucks/trailers looking decent [especially at our Alaska facility].

I'm such a fan of original cars. They can be restored at any time, only the lucky ones will SURVIVE the test of time, some not as well as others.

Fast forward 25 years and imagine if everyone wanted "polished nickels", there would be very, very few survivor type cars.

Pebble beach has recently instituted a survivor class, clearly a movement in the right direction IMHO.

I'd plead with anyone to save what is original on their cars.

Just my .02 cents.

I'll say again, what an amazing find, it may not be as nice as the Harrell Chevelle or the RS COPO but it is truly a survior in my books, keep it that way.

One of my favorite things on my Camaro is the original underhood insulation. Stained, a tad ratty, but still there after 40 years*. Because the stock 396 is a close fit the indentation from the L35's air cleaner lid is deeply pressed into the insulation. Oh, and the light surface rust around the hood edges has gotten compliments at shows too. At one show a few years ago a guy said to me in a serious, solemn voice, "Don't change a thing."

I have used that rust remover , it works well but takes time , you have to submerge parts in it or pump it in a recycle low pressure tub .

Looks like an old "Grumpy" trick. He used to paint his engines black; claimed it helped dissipate heat.
