I can't remember if I've posted this one or not. I don't think so. It was my W31 in front of one of the last working antique gas pumps in BC. The photo was 1976 or 1977.

The shots of Boundary Bay Airport and Upper Bench Road are great! Here is what upper Bench Road looked like at 10am this morning (Boundary Bay had their air show today so I had the choice of getting that)

Uncanny. I printed out your pictures from the previous pages and was holding them in my hand while taking these. For some reason the mountains in the background all look different! There was an older woman jogging past who assured me that is the spot they raced and so did the guys i'd talked to running at the Osoyoos Airport. Behind the starting line the road curves south and downhill...right?

On closer inspection of the picture with the white Camaro and black ElCamino on the previous page i notice the pointed mountain is behind the others and obscured in clouds today. I couldn't find the right angle to make the hills behind the line appear correct.

By the way as a Ford guy and had to wrestle with my conscience to join a "Chevy" site but this is a good forum i've been visiting for a couple years.

Yep, that's the spot allright. I was hoping to see some of the cars that ran there this weekend, as I know some of them are still around.
Glad you joined this site.

I tried to repost you pictures and mine above and below each other to make it easy to compare but couldn't figure out how. Easier for me to work mechanical stuff than electronic stuff.

The hills are pretty green this year. Normally it's just the sage brush you see, and it looks like there's a power pole where none was before. And it looks like there's a hay field there now too.

As a city slicker it's always a novelty to visit places that had no electricity in 1975.

Two different cameras with different lenses that have different focal settings. The old camera drew in the background and made it look closer while the new, probably compact digital camera, makes the hills look a little farther away. Definitely the same location, photographed with different cameras/lanses/focal and field-of-view properties, taken 30 years apart. I think it's neat that the road is still there ans still the way it was back in the old days. Perhaps there should be a "reunion" drag event held there today?

I wish i'd had the presence of mind to find a couple cars with aluminum slot mags and air shocks and pose them on the road with a few guys that look like a Greatful Dead tribute band.
