When I was 6 years old it was the coolest movie and car out there. Amazing how the times change. Now I look at it as FUGLY also.

Supposedly there are only 2 cars used in the movie, and the one at mid america is the backup car. The other resides in Australia, but it doesn't look like it did in the movie.
The mid america one was converted to right hand drive by moving the steering wheel and gauge cluster to the passenger side, and fitting a chain and gear drive under the dash, that was connected to another gear installed on a shaft that was attached to the steering gear. Looks like a real death trap. Certainly not something you would do any spirited driving in. ![]() |
