if your in it for investment sell your copo or 67 z28 and buy a shelby or mopar there kicking chevys butt as far as price and demand the camaro sales this week were a joke no big money I guess its because so many crooks have made clones and fake trim tags with false docs and even the real cars cant prove much anymore I think a lot of this is because of how some of you that think you are experts and are ceartinally not knock cars like you did my l78 when actually you have no clue everyone thinks they can pick apart a car because a hose is not the right color or a bolt dosent have paint on or the paper for pop looks too white (that one kills me)it etc maby one of these days you will learn to say nice car wish it was in my garauge and maby the prices will go up instead of down!!

We were watching Barret Jackson...what were you watching ? Mopars weren't very strong...Shelby's are always pretty strong.

It's interesting! There seems to be quite a lot of
emotional sentiment about this years auction. Someone asked
about being bothered about Ford prices going up. More power
to them. I hated the Ford guys growing up and went after
them all the time. It was that "Genuine GM" thing!

Well, we do eventually grow up and I even own a couple of
Fords these days.

The Chevy prices did seem to be down a bit. I'd like to
know more about that. Is it saturation time for BBC's?

Lastly, I'd personally like to know more about the behind
the scenes goings-on that may have happened. Craig Jackson
looked very stiff and uneasy last night. Anyone care to
talk about what they may have seen or heard? Heresay isn't
a problem so long as we know it is heresay......

Steve

[/ QUOTE ] That sums it up pretty well for me Belair. Everyone has thier own opinions based on what they want to believe . Many people want prices to drop so the "investors" will go back to the stock market and there will be more cars and cheaper prices for the "enthusiast" , the only problem with that is, is that the "enthusiast" will still only want to pay half of market price anyway, so most still wont ever buy a car

Craig had some major duds. I'm sure he thought the Von Dutch Bus would have sold for at least a million. Some Von Dutch stuff sold for major money earlier this year. The music memorabilia went for almost nothing. The low mile Hemi Cuda's seemed like bargains.

Did anyone notice Carrol Shelby yank the microphone away from the sleazy sunglasses guy? Could that guy fit the car salesman stereotype anymore?

I think we all have a basic need to have our likes and dislikes validated by people we respect. That's just human nature. I can assure you I would prize certain cars far more than most of you.

For instance: I bought a barely used cream '67 GTO, auto and no a/c. $2,500.00 It came with the standard styled steel rims and redlines. My buddies called it a girly car back then but I loved that car. It was fun and had just enough power. I later put American ..... seems like they were the old bottle spokes (is that what we called them?) and with the redlines it was a beauty.

If some other nut felt the same way I do and a perfect one rolled on the stage, and of course we would both have done our due diligence, the final selling price would probably shock the hell out you guys! It would hardly be a representative price for '67 GTO's though.

During the times that I have watched the BJ auction I've seen many of the big collectors from past years but, couldn't help but notice that "Ralph" (the big guy that was involved in the bidding war for the Future Liner last year with Ron Pratt) has not made an appearance. I guess that whole mix-up with the Future Liner last year didn't sit too well with him.

They showed him on TV again this year and said that he was one fo the bidders on the futureliner last year. I think he was the high bidder on at least one of the hemi cars. He certainly kept a lower profile than last year.
