Check on the bottom of the signs. A lot of the older ones have the date of manufacture printed on the bottom front of the signs.

GO NOW...don't wait! .

Firestone stuff is one of the coolest and I'm still kicking myself for missing out when I had the chance. .

My pal's Dad ran the Firestone here back through the glory years and although I saved a few of the old racing jackets, I was in no position to do anything when the signs came down...we even took the old '60 Ford Firestone pickup to the boneyard within the past 10 years too! .

If the BIG lighted one is there and you can make it happen, do it but make sure you have a safe indoor place to land it. .

Keep your eyes open for some of the cool tire racks and garage cabinets also dig deep to see if there's stuff that was tucked away in attic storage areas...banners, displays and of course old tires! .

Firestone also sold rebadged bicycles and outboards also pressed steel toy trucks so watch for these also shipping boxes from stuff like this. .

Almost forgot...on the outside of the buildings there was usually individual red letters that said Firestone w/ the flying 'F' also 'Complete Service' and some other slogans...so don't miss these if they're still there and you can put the grab on them! .

Good luck!!! .

Went out to the Tire shop to snap a couple of photos. The gates were locked so I took photos from behind gates...

BTW, this small tire shop was not an exclusive Firestone store. They sell other brands too. Will try to get close ups of the tin signs later today or tomorrow.

Thanks,

Hmmm, I saw a whole truck load of something that looked like that leaving the tire shop on its way to the county dump. They said something about not up to today's safety standards or something like that. Are they special or something?
