"A" reperesents November, not January. The date breaks down as follows: 8 A 2 The first character is the year of the decade, in this case, 1968, for an early 1969 model vehicle. The second character is the month, with the numbers 1-9 representing January through September, "0" representing October, "A" representing November, and "B" representing December.
