I also heard they lost their franchise for the mileage tampering issue.

I was curious which car you owned out of the three cars Karen Chev. received - a rallye green 4sp, a fathom green a/t, or the olympic gold 4sp. They may have gotten more than those 3, but those are the only three I know about.

The two green cars are still around. The rallye green car is owned by a family member of the original owner, and is now in FL. The fathom green car was eventually turned into a race car called 'THE LEAPIN LIZARD', and I believe is now sitting awaiting it's turn for restoration.

Sorry about the question thing I'm very new to this. I thought I was posting to the board, but I think I sent a PM to copo. If he would be so kind to post the PM I sent him. It's kind of long, but I hope interesting. Anyway the car I had was the Rallye Green 4 spd. The fathom green car was indeed turned into a race car, and I still know the owner. I talked to him once in the past year about his car. I don't know if he still owns it. The one thing I remember about it was he had 'Get Back' painted on the rear spoiler. I know he ran the car at Island Dragway Great Meadows, N.J. It's really good news to hear 2 of the 3 are still around. As I said in the PM to copo the gold one was supposed to have been destroyed at a Wind Gap,Pa. 1/8 mile dragstrip nicknamed 'The Sticks'. The strip still exists, but is only used once a year for a reunion. (Burnouts only, no actual racing). On one side the strip is lined with trees and I heard the driver of the gold Yenko just lost control and put the car into the trees.

I'm sure Keith would like to get the original spare back for his car! How can Keith contact you? I'm sure he would love to talk to you about the car. Its been very well taken care of over the years.

The driver of the gold car indeed put it into a tree, I heard that he was killed in that incident but that is unconfirmed. Could the dragstrip have been Vargo Dragway in Perkasie, PA - it's just south of Wind Gap, with trees on the one side, and is used once a year for a reunion car show.

M, there is a Drag Strip in Windgap, Pa. Off route 78 east. Still an 1/8th mile set up and they have a real nice reunion every year. Actually the return road was in the woods. Still looks the same. Its called The Sticks Reunion.

O.K. Guys, since I can't figure who I sent the PM to I'll try this again. This all comes from my memory so if I'm off please don't think I'm blowing smoke. As far as I know Karen Chev sold 3 69 Yenko Camaros. Olympic gold, sold to 1 or 2 guys from Allentown, Pa. Fathom green to a local (Easton, Pa.)speed shop owner. Rallye green, sold to a young man from Wilson Boro (Easton) Pa. nicknamed Spike. The gold one was destroyed at 'The Sticks' drag strip. The fathom green was a strip only car. The rallye green car was traded at Continental Motors Easton,Pa. where I worked, on a (Get ready for this one) new Lincoln Mercury Capri. My then fiancee, now ex-wife, and I bought the car on Feb 3rd 1972. I still have the receipts from the deposit and when we picked up the car Feb 10th. when I went in to pick the car up I was corraled in the sales managers office with the owner and sales mgr telling me how much I didn't want to buy that car. They had advertised the car and had 2 or 3 backup deposits on it. After way too much talking I reminded them that I had a signed buyers order and I was indeed taking the car. We lived exactly 2 blocks from the dealership and every morning (for the next 2 weeks anyway) I would walk past the car only to turn around and drive in the opposite direction 13 blocks to the circle in Easton and back up to work. Two weeks later I got fired from that job (I didn't care I had the car) they were really upset about selling me that car. Anyway we had the car a little over a year and bought a house so the car had to go.(Yes I knew it was going to be worth money someday) I sold it to Stout's Auto Sales Reading,Pa. I had no idea it was still around until yesterday. Keith e-mailed me pictures. You have no idea how big the smile on my face was when I saw those pictures. The car looks absolutely beautiful! Maybe some day I'll actually be able to see it again. I know exactly what I'll say. Hello old friend, the years have been very very kind.
