Hi Andy, I'd be happy to post a few pics of the lower fenders to disprove your theory...
W302nv... What exactly is it under the hood (besides the wrong upper radiator hose clamp) that you feel is wrong? I fully disclosed the fact that this clamp is wrong in my description of the car... I can appreciate a skeptical eye, as I too might wonder the same in today's world, but I know this car, guys, and it is what is described. Thanks. |

The biggest thing is its missing the "lift loop"....and its not very likely at all that it was missing from the factory...unless its a Toronado (it would have been removed for clearance)...thats how they got the engines in the cars....and according to factory engineering drawings, and every low mile 442 or W-30 I've seen, it should be there..the bypass hose looks like it has the wrong clamps too..there is an extra clip mounted towards the rear of the drivers side valve cover...only 4 speed cars should have that.....these are just things I can tell from the somewhat low-res photos. There are other things, but I dont want to use these posts to pick at the car so I will leave it at that...I'd be more than happy to discuss this stuff off the board...again, its a great car, its just not exactly untouched...

I dunno . . . higher than what I expected, but I'm not an expert on these cars. I'm just waiting to see what it will go for. Surely if it was a stick car, it would be much higher.

A ragtop w-30 with a true w-27 rearend does add up to big $$$. I am looking at some of the detail work and it makes me sick to think what my car looks like underneath! 17K into a paintjob???? I guess I was lucky with mine! I spent more on my wife's wedding ring than on my paintjob! (And worth every penny!)

I agree that the red convertible is a higher than market, I asked a friend if maybe I missed in the description that it has a suitcase with $90K cash in the trunk, but he said no....
It's really not detailed that nicely either for that kind of money. It is a very nice car, I just would expect a more polished, professional "detailed" look to it. At least get the carb re-colored for show, not a $7.00 Eastwood golden spray bomb. Maybe they're just poor quality images? This car makes me think there IS money to be made restoring these things....... |
