I believe there were a limited number of aluminum head L78 Chevelles made in 70....that intake was also used on 71 LS-6 Corvette..Colvin's book shows the engine codes. Sent you a PM..

No 1971 LS-6 Chevelles produced for public consumption.
Those 1st 90 days only production 18 1970 L-89 Chevelles used the 842 Aluminum heads, not 074. 1970 L-78 Camaro-Nova-Chevelle & LS-6 Chevelle used that #4492 when equipped w/TH400 trans.,that were NOT sold brand new in the state of Calif.,Nevada, and certain areas of Montana. What is the date code showing on your #4492 carbs air horn? 1970 L-78 Chevelles used that Hi-Rise intake also. What is the date on the #569 intake?..Does the intake have the cylinder No. on each runner? |

DeWayne,
The intake date in on the underside lowered cross-over section. It will be something like: 3.21.69 Also, the Holley numbers will be on the front of the airhorn ( drivers side ). This is a vertical face that is in the aircleaner region. Steve

Rick,
Let me see if I remember this: No 1970 LS-6 Corvettes - right? No 1971 LS-6 Chevelles? If I'm not mistaken, I've seen technical listing for LS-6 application for both cars for both years. More folk-lore? Steve

I wouldn't exactly call it folklore, but technical materials were printed before the cars were assembled and made a reality.
I believe Chevrolet had ideas to assemble these two cars for public release, but they never fruitioned once their respective production lines started. ------------------ ![]() They Will Rein In Arizona.. |
