I was matched up against that neat 57 Ford at Martin and almost took him for granted. That thing has a top end like an F16. With an automatic and a gear, that thing would easily be in the low 13's maybe better. That's a lot for 312 cubes.
Between it and Stefina's Mercury, this is starting to look like Jurassic Park! Still waiting for a big Chrysler 300 and a J2 Olds to show up. ![]()

it was great to talk to you also Rob, i have bean to that event every year since it started 96? or 97 i think, i always raced my 70 six pack cuda (yellow), i remember there was only 17 cars the first year and like 45 or so the second and 136 this year, i did get a chance to watch some of the raceing this year unlike most i am in the pits bsing with the other drivers, I did notice what apears to sound like a loose convertor in some of the buicks there, not picking anybody out but i thought a switch pitch convertor would be a no no, not that it matters much there is no cash to win,
Rich

Hi Marlin, i dont know how they work for sure. posten enterprises sells them, but you can regulate how much stall speed the convertor has from inside the car, Rich

Wow! Never heard of one, but sounds like a neat item to have at your disposal - would help compensate for various track conditions, etc... Still cheatin though

Was used on mid-60s Buicks I believe, to help get the hulks moving...uses a switch to change it from like 2800 stall to like 1800 or there abouts...kinda like an early lockup converter. There was a tech article about it in the GSXtra many many moons ago, so any Buick that's ever had a wrench turned on it has one, or at least it seems!
