Kendall,
Great pics, thanks. Was honored to even be matched against an LS-6 with my Olds 350. Not so funny when he cranked out a 13.47 against our qualifying time of 14.216(I ran a 14.22)Knew something was up when I treed him and be ran away in 1st gear. Ran him out the back door just in case he was an old bracket racer, but think he was as surprised (and thrilled) as anyone. Match was over with his big DQ breakout, but decided to go again in a hare and hound with me leaving first for grins, Couldn't get them to handicap the tree for a closer race. Jumped the light, ran another 14.22, but so did he when he went up in smoke. Never got close to me and won by .519, so a little honor restored. Great time and better every year. Everybody complaining about Tom Shaw's butt in all the pics. Everybody except the drivers. Thanks Tom, Steve and the others, Heard 6-8 magazines were there. Stands were packed on the pit side and lots more on the spectator side. What a show!

Great photos Kendall, had a geat time as always, my judge ran better than i thought it would, darn near brake the scale at 4160lbs, and still ran 14:40 at 96mph. these ac 70 gtos are hefty, looks like rusty has some compitition with his hurst, i saw the one at the track click off a 13:30 i am not sure if he bettered that time by days end. it was great to talk to some of you guys in person for a change.
Rich

As shocking as that was to me when I got the ET slip, I'm pretty confident there's a good deal more left in the car! I still don't have mandrel exhaust on it...!

There was a 57 Ford Red/Black running a supercharged 312 I think. It must have been a interceptor package or something. But that car was a sleeper also. The cars that amazed me were the Stude "Lark" 289 Paxton charged cars.
Next year more pit pictures.Plenty of very fine autos.Super Bee 440-6packs,57 Corvette 2 4bbls 4spd,Hemi Challenger in Plum Crazy purple,67-9 Firebirds 1 350H.O. red/white stripe and interior.I could go on and on. Does anyone know if the Hemi Challenger was the one featured on Dream Car Garage?? ![]() Kendall

Johnny Cat and I eyeballed that '57 Ford also...I'd never seen a Paxton setup on a Y-block before...heard of it, but never saw the plumbing...mega cool, and the color combo was awesome! How about Benoit's Eliminator? Talk about a cool car...and 12.80s? Rediculous...

I was matched up against that neat 57 Ford at Martin and almost took him for granted. That thing has a top end like an F16. With an automatic and a gear, that thing would easily be in the low 13's maybe better. That's a lot for 312 cubes.
Between it and Stefina's Mercury, this is starting to look like Jurassic Park! Still waiting for a big Chrysler 300 and a J2 Olds to show up. ![]()
