Thanks guys! Does anyone know if any of the audio systems from 1967 actually received 2 year speakers from the factory?

Both 8-trk or Multiplex used two rear....AM-FM used the single dash speaker unless the rear fader was ordered as an option...That then means factory RPO U80 or Dealer option...Either way without the Multiplex or the 8-trk all you could have is one rear speaker.....Confused yet?

No factory multiplexes in 67 Camaros. Only way to get two rear speakers in a 67 from the factory is via an 8 track. You could get a single rear speaker for either an AM or mono AM/FM radio via RPO U80 "Auxiliary speaker"

Correct.....So if I carry it a step further then..... A 67 Multiplex (dealer installed) would use two gray speaker grills.I have yet to see a dealer installed rear speaker painted to match the interior color...At least on cars with real paperwork to back the option.

Thanks again guys. I have the code on my trim tag for the rear speaker, so I know there was at least one when new. However, there are two there now, so I don't know if one was added or ???? The original radio is gone and I have yet to take a hard look at the wiring etc. to see if there are any clues there as to what was original equipment.

Check the front kick panels for wires or speakers...a must for stereo installation....FYI..you still used the center dash speaker for a mono radio even with 8-trk....

What kind of radio mast? Assuming it would still be original a single piece mast is an AM/FM, collapsable mast or a rear mounted mast indicates an AM radio. If your trim tag is coded for the U80 speaker, then an 8 track is out of the running since the U80 option was part of the 8 track package (at least in 69) and your trim tag would be coded 2U for the 8 track instead of 2R for the aux speaker and you would have 4 speakers in the car, not 2.
