You are correct I was talking about a 1970 L78 Nova with a build date of November 1969.Bob

I think all L78 Novas had the open element air cleaner.
I believe the Camaro and chevelle lines were the only ones to use snorkels on L78. The (camaro style) snorkel aircleaner was used in Nova copo and yenko LT-1 applications...probably because the engines were pulled from the Camaro engine stock.

'70 L78 Novas could also receive the dual 'long' snorkel air cleaner, the short snorkel a/c was COPO Nova only.

Marlin, Any info on the changeover date on 1970
Nova L-78's from Open Element (ala 1969) to the one year only Camaro style long dual snorkel. I've had a knowledgeable person speculate that the change was Jan 1st due to "new" anti-noise regulations....... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() regards,

My 70 L78 nova had the duel snorkle long snout. It was a late build. Apr, or May I think.

I had the L78 ordered for a long time. Didn't show up until June. Had about 5k on it when we met a bridge. Took the insurance money, borrowed some, and bought the deuce. My insurance actually went down because it was a non SS plain ole 350. Don was right. They were insurance beaters.
![]() I didn't buy the deuce until April of 71, so no, I didn't actually buy both in 70. |
