I'm brave enough to try anything once, well almost anything...How much lift should there be with the typical air shocks on a Nova??? They are yellow and I assume they are some common brand from the day. I just want the back to be level with the front for that "ready to jump" look...

unless you want the look of shackles, why not pull your springs off and have them rearched by a local shop, check out 4x4 or heavy equipment repair shops, most will build you a set of springs or rearch yours. i bought a set of repro 5 leaf springs and had to get them dearched to get the car out of the air.

I had Detroit Eaton make me a set for mine that are 1 and 1/2" higher than factory. The springs and complete bushing set was less than 400 bucks. I went the rearch route first, but it changed the ride a lot. Plus springs have a "memory" and they will settle back down. All this info is on the Eaton site. The new springs and new shocks make the car ride nice.

Wilma, we would either use air shocks OR shackles - we never needed both. From what I remember, you should be able to clear L60's with air shocks alone, so check and make sure they are functioning properly and are the right shocks for your application. Personally, I never liked the look of shackles on a street car...

I kinda think you are right...tomorrow I will fire up the compressor and get the air pumped up in those shocks...hope they don't blow up!
